IOS Rentals v2.5

Advanced booking form fields management, improved cars fleet page, custom vehicle categories, PHP 8 support and more.

Version 2.5 of IOS Rentals, the powerful online rent a car booking system for Elxis, Wordpress, Joomla and other PHP sites, has a lot of new cool features. We skipped versions 2.3 and 2.4 and went from v2.2 directly to v2.5 as the changes in the new IOS Rentals release are many and important ones. Lets focus on the most important additions you will find in IOS Rentals 2.5.

Quick start guide

To help new users get started quickly we implemented a Quick start guide which will help you set up IOS Rentals fast and correctly. The guide is accessible from the left side vertical menu and when clicked displays a windows with steps and instructions. Follow the steps as shown and with the order shown. When a step is complete a green mark appears next to it.

Booking form fields

The number of custom form fields shown in booking form increased from 8 to 20. With the custom form fields you can ask the customer additional information apart from the standard ones (name, email, phone, etc). Moreover you can now assign all form fields per group! Let's explain this super cool feature more.

Consider I own a car rental company. I have vehicles groups A, B and C for typical cars and group D for VANs and mini busses. I want for VANs and mini busses to create a custom form field element for the booking form asking the customer to type the number of passengers. Since version 2.5 it is possible to create that form field and assign it only to group D. So the field asking the number of passengers will only be visible in case someone tries to book a VAN or a mini bus!

Also, there is a brand new interface for managing form fields. The new interface makes easier editing and re-ordering fields. You can access this new page by clicking the top right "cog" icon and then select Form fields.

Custom vehicle categories

IOS Rentals comes with a number of built-in vehicle categories such as mini, small, family, economy, luxury, etc, for cars and motorcycles. Since version 2.5 it is possible to set up your own vehicle categories. Click the top right "cog" icon and then select Vehicle categories. You can add unlimited number of vehicle categories and they can be multi-lingual! Moreover you can create fleet pages based on these categories (for example fleet page for mini or small cars) independently of vehicle types or groups.

More and flexible fleet pages

Before version 2.5 you were able to create a fleet page listing your vehicles for rental. You had the option to filter this page based on vehicle type, for example have a fleet page for cars and an other one for motorcycles. Now you can have up to 8 distinctive fleet pages in which you can display vehicles based on any of the following criteria (supported all AND/OR combinations).

• Vehicle type Example: display cars and motorcycles
• Group or groups IDs Example: display vehicles of groups 2, 5 and 7
• Model or models IDs Example: display vehicle models 15, 22, 11 and 17
• Vehicle category or categories Example: display vehicles categorized as mini, small and economy cars.

Customize booking e-mails

In company configuration page you will find 2 new options which allows you to add custom text on top of booking e-mail sent to the customer but also the option to customize e-mail footer. These new options are named Mail top text and Mail footer text respectively.

Remote update of Fleet plugins

Remote update of the integrated API Client plugins is a very helpful feature as you can update the plugins without visiting their installation site directly from IOS Rentals control panel. Now this functionality is also avaialble for the API Fleet plugin too! Just when you perform remote updates first update the API Client plugin and then the Fleet plugin. The remote update of the Fleet plugin is supported for Elxis and Wordpress sites.

Other changes and additions

IOS Rentals 2.5 is compatible also with PHP 8 and the TCPDF library was updated. For payment method Alpha Bank when the selected country is Greece the billState parameter is not sent to cardlink. Some small bugs were fixed.

Update and demo site

Download IOS Rentals 2.5 from IOS Reservations control panel (section Updates). Go to IOSR Extensions and upload the new version. After the update is complete go to IOS Reservations dashboard in Elxis administration and on IOS Rentals menu click to update the database (if needed). The update is complete. The new version requires to also update the integrated API plugins. Download the plugins from section Updates as before and update the integrated sites from REST APIs menu in IOS Rentals control panel.
